Thought of the week

It is unacceptable to consider medicine as an ordinary consumer product, such as a cosmetic or a laundry detergent, for example. Medicines should have no purpose other than their usefulness in serving public health. Consequently, only strictly scientific decision criteria should be applied to them, and all forms of advertising concerning them should be banned.
