Thought of the week

By choosing to continue to encourage growth as if nothing is wrong, economists are making a very poor bet for future generations. The report presented by one of their most eminent colleagues, Sir Nicholas Stern, has convincingly shown that the economic costs of inaction in preventing climate change will far outweigh the investments needed to mitigate or prevent it. Stern predicts, among other things, the displacement of over 200 million people by 2050 due to climate change.
